Hello parishioners - A BIG THANK YOU TO JOAN AND GREG FREEMAN for hosting our wonderful cookout last weekend, and also to all those who helped out with set-up, clean-up, grilling, taking photos, and bringing food.
Also, remember to buy your SILENT AUCTION TICKETS by this weekend! You can purchase them online HERE, or from Jen or Mary on Sunday after church. We need to sell about 25 more tickets to make this event the roaring success we want it to be ... and we know you're out there! Invite friends!
BOOK GROUP BEGINS NEXT WEDS OCTOBER 1 AT 7 PM
Our first book group is next Wednesday, 7 - 8 pm, and we'll be discussing Flannery O'Connor's Prayer Journal. There are a few books left for purchase at the church if you're interested. (Pssst: it's only forty pages long!)
ST. FRANCIS DAY BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS SUNDAY OCTOBER 5
Our St. Francis Day celebration is in just over a week. Bring your furry (and otherwise) friends for their annual blessing! Service will be in the churchyard, weather permitting (otherwise inside the church).
DIDN'T GET YOUR DIRECTORY PICS TAKEN LAST WEEK?
That's OK. You can send a picture of you and/or your family to Polly ([email protected]) OR have your picture taken this Sunday after church.
FALL ADULT EDUCATION SERIES STARTS OCTOBER 12
Our fall series on "Dying Well" begins in just over two weeks. In the first class, "Dying Organized," a facilitator from the Hudson Valley Funeral Consumers Alliance will talk to us about steps we can take now to organize ourselves, from living wills to burial plans to (yes) straightening out the mess of passwords in our lives. Our second class, on November 9, is about "Dying Green: Exploring Ecologically Friendly Burial Alternatives" with Suzanne Kelly, author of the forthcoming The Greening of Death, A Reclamation. Finally, on December 14, Mother Storm will lead a class about the burial liturgy and Christian burial customs called "Dying Beautifully." Mark your calendars!
