SUNDAY SCHOOL AT ST. NICK'S takes place during the first half of the 10 am service, with the kids joining us at Communion. Of necessity (our space is tight), but also in a progressive spirit of education, we are a "one-room schoolhouse," with kids helping each other across a wide age span (4-12).
We have a great group of kids enrolled in our program, with nine very qualified volunteer teachers teaching on a rotating schedule. We use the Holy Moly Sunday School curriculum, as well as creating our own crafts an projects that follow the weekly lessons. The lessons are published each week for parents who would like to follow along with what their kids are learning; you can find the latest by clicking "Sunday School this Week" at left.
In addition, throughout the year the children engage in outreach projects - an annual summer Read-a-Thon to support the church in Darbonne, Haiti; Episcopal Relief and Development's Gifts for Life Program; Episcopal Charities food collection; Christmas offerings to local families in need, and more. We strive to cultivate social awareness all year long.
Sunday school adjourns for July & August, but we have a very popular VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL program the last week of July, which culminates in a can't-miss play during the 10 am Sunday service.
