THIS SUNDAY AT ST. NICK'S
October 8, 2017
Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Services are at 9 & 10am
Hello Parishioners - With the confirmations and baptisms over the past few weeks, we have had a number of visitors who had some trouble walking. Thanks to the presence of the beautiful ramp that we installed last year, those visitors were able to join us more comfortably and readily. The ramp exists only because of the generosity of those who contributed to the capital campaign. We hope you all take pride in that part of our community effort. Thanks you.
MID- HUDSON LOVE INC. SCRABBLE TOURNAMENT Come and join us for a fun night of Scrabble, snacks, and desserts that will benefit Mid-Hudson Love Inc. Tournament will be held on October 12th, 6:30-9:30pm at the Hellenic Community Center, 54 Park Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Pre-registration required, see Liz Pavelka for info
PIG PICKIN' IS NEXT SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH!
We are excited to be hosting our 1st Annual Pig Pickin' right in our own church yard. All are welcome so please invite your family and friends to invite your family and friends to this finger lickin' good time. For tickets purchases please see Mtr. Leigh, Paul Curran, Jack Parry, Melanie Hexel or Debbie Evans. Hope to see you there!
NEXT SUNDAY, THE BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS Bring your furry and/or not so furry friends to St. Nick's for the 10am service in the church yard for their annual blessing. Mtr. Leigh will bless most anything!
NEXT VESTRY MEETING will be on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:30pm and will meet in the undercroft.
RECTOR INSTALLATION AND CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY Mark your calendars so you don't miss this special event being held at St. Nick's on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 4pm.
"COME AWAY WITH ME" CURSILLO RETREAT is a three-day retreat coming up on October 26th - 29th. There is no cost to candidates, all you have to do is say yes and make the time. To learn more about about Cursillo please contact Liz Pavelka, Eileen Doherty, Debbie Evans or Leeann Haubrich and/or visit the NY Diocese Cursillo website HERE.
DIRECTORY CONTACT INFORMATION Do you have a new address, phone number or just need to make corrections to your current information? Beginning this Sunday, there will be a labeled directory in the back of the church for you to jot down your new information.
CRAFTERS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are currently looking for people to make crafts and goods for St. Nick's Church Fair. Anyone interested in participating in this fundraiser please see Mary Hornbeck.
PERSONAL CARE PANTRY As the rising costs of household necessities make more demand on the budgets of our clients, the bigger difference our donations make. Please think about taking the time to pick up an item or two for our local families in need. Following is a list of items needed to stock the shelves: Laundry/dish detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, feminine products, shampoo/conditioner/ combs/brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, deoderant, razors, and shaving cream. The Linen Ministry needs gently used blankets and towels.
PASTORAL MINISTRY If you have concern for yourself, a family member or friend, please contact Mother Leigh Hall at 706-296-2759 or email [email protected]
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN Thank you to everyone who continues to give to St. Nick's capital campaign. It is because of your generosity and time that has been dedicated to this project that we have been able to make a more firm foundation for our worship space. Anyone who would like to check their pledge status can contact Dana at [email protected]. Those of you who would like to make a payment towards your campaign pledge here are two easy ways to make a payment:
1. Put your payment into the big box in the back of the church which is marked "Capital Campaign". Please write "Capital Campaign" on all checks, this will help keep Sunday donations distinct from campaign donations.
2. Mail your payment to the St. Nick's at 37 Point St., New Hamburg NY. Once again please write "Capital Campaign" on all checks.
COFFEE HOUR Interested in hosting coffee hour? It can be simple: Cookies, carrot sticks, crackers and cheese - whatever you can pick up at the store. The coffee is already made for you by the altar guild. Click HERE for instructions, ideas, and to sign up. Thank you!
