THIS SUNDAY AT ST. NICK'S
Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
June 26, 2016
THIS SUNDAY We welcome Father Edmond Desuza to join us and lead our services.
COME AND JOIN US TONIGHT!! Friday June 24th at 7pm to Zion's parish Hall. Fr. Victor Austin, who has been a longtime servant in our community has written a memoir, Losing Susan: Brain Disease, The Priest's Wife, and the God Who Gives and Takes Away - a poignant personal story. He will share some of his insights into the writing of the book as well as do some reading from it. Refreshments and an informal discussion will follow. Copies of the book will be available for $11 and can signed by the author. For advanced copies call Liz Pavelka (297 4907).
SEARCH COMMITTEE The Vestry has started the process of seeking a new Rector for St Nick’s. Part of this process is getting together a Search Committee made up of parishioners dedicated to the process of screening candidates on behalf of the parish. This committee must be able to envision what our parish should look like in the coming years and represent the diverse views of all parishioners. If you are interested in serving on this committee please fill out the form provided HERE and return it to stnicholasnewhamburg@gmail.com, any vestry member or place it in a green envelope and drop it in the plate. If you have any questions you can contact Paul Curran at (914 844 0894). We would like to hear from you by July 1st.
PASTORAL CARE During the transition period the vestry has appointed "pastoral care liaisons" whom you may call if you need to speak to a priest for any reason at any time. These parish members will find a local priest to attend to your need. The liasons and contact information are Liz Pavelka (297 4907), Polly Myhrum (297 5681), Rachel VanDerStuyf (896 2137), Melanie Hexel (297 3114), or Paul Curran (914 844 0894).
PROPERTY COMMITTEE MEETINGS There are lots of improvements and renovations happening at St. Nick's from the interior to the exterior. As we are making a lot of decisions we welcome all parishioners to join us at the Property Committee meetings. Please come and join the conversations. For more information contact Dana, by phone 297 2010 or by email at stnicholasnewhamburg@gmail.com
SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS: FRIENDS OF DARBONNE READ-A-THON The Read-a-thon is off and running! Please remember to return your information slips or email Joan Freeman so we know who is participating. Kids who haven't yet received a packet can get one in church this week. The read-a-thon raises money to support school children in Haiti.
