THANK YOU to Deb Evans, Jennifer Klein, and our Sunday School leaders for shepherding last Sunday’s Sunday School play. We can’t wait to see what the St. Nick’s players come up with next!
CHRISTMAS ANGELS Thank you to all who participated in this outreach opportunity. The gifts you have given will be delivered today. Special thanks to Liz Pavelka and Paul Curran for heading this project.
VESTRY ELECTIONS & ANNUAL MEETING OF THE PARISH will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Please see the blue insert in today’s bulletin to find out more. God might be calling you to be a leader at St. Nick’s! Please signup to bring a potluck dish to share. The clipboard and signup sheet are in the Narthex.
Vestry Elections 2020
The Annual Meeting of the parish will be held in late January or early February. At that meeting, we will elect a new class of vestry members to replace the following members, whose terms expire at the annual meeting 2020:
Deb Evans
Jack Parry
Cyndy Wisdo (fulfilling a one-year term for Christine Ackerly)
Have YOU considered running for Vestry?!
It is often said that Vestry meetings are “the business meeting of the church,” and while that’s somewhat true, the Vestry also consists of spiritually grounded persons who seek to further the mission and ministry of our Church. It is a group that is necessarily concerned with both the “why” (why we do what we do as church) AND the “how” (the logistics of carrying that out). Members serve for a three-year term and are eligible to serve for as long as six years. We have a monthly meeting on the second Wednesday from 7:30pm to 9pm, and we adhere to that time limit. Some years we have a Vestry retreat. Ours is a working Vestry, meaning that each member takes ownership of an area of ministry. This arises out of the member’s own gifts and passions.
The Vestry is an integral part of the parish! No one person can run this place alone — and no one should. But if you’d like to see St. Nick’s grow and thrive, your being on the Vestry would be the most efficient and helpful way to make that happen. Either the Rector or any Vestry member (listed below, along with the year their terms expire) would be happy to talk with you about what it’s like to be on the Vestry.
Debra Evans 2020*
Janine Gauzza (Sr Warden) 2021
Joe Haubrich, II 2022
Jack Parry 2020*
Greg Freeman (Jr Warden)
2021 Dorothy Jackson (Clerk) 2022
Cyndy Wisdo 2020*
Edie Palm 2021
Ted Obligado 2022 *
* As they have served only one three-year term, these members are eligible for re-election.
Those considering running for Vestry should email a photo and a brief biography of 100 words or less to [email protected] no later than January 8th, 2020.
OFFICE HOURS The church office will be closed Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day and will re-open on Thursday, January 2nd. Mtr. Leigh will be available for pastoral emergencies at 845.432.4659.
THE EPIPHANY Please be sure to join us next Sunday, January 5th for the Feast of the Epiphany. When three special visitors will join us.
