THIS SUNDAY AT ST. NICK'S
December 16, 2018
Services are at 9am & 10am
The Third Sunday of Advent
From the Rector: Welcome Our New Nursery Worker, Kim Steuber
I'm very excited to welcome our new nursery worker, Kim Steuber, to our church staff. Kim comes to us with over ten years' experience in child care, and works during the week as the Early Education Director at the Rose Hill Manor Day School in Highland. Kim lives in Wappingers Falls but is originally from Mamaroneck, where she basically grew up in the backyard of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church. Beginning on Sunday 12/23, Kim will be downstairs at 9:30a to set up our "pop up" nursery in the office/sacristy, which we will be outfitting in the next ten days. To do this, we will use a bit of "mad money" that came to us via Canon Deb Tammearu, who is closing out her discretionary fund upon her retirement at the end of this year. We have so much to be grateful for here at St. Nick's! I hope you will join me in welcoming Kim to our church family, and in giving thanks for all God has given to our little church on the Hudson.
See you soon!
Mtr. Leigh

#ADVENTWORD IS GOING STRONG
#Adventword is an initiative from the Lifelong Learning Center at Virginia Theological Seminary. They distribute a list of words, one for each day of Advent, such as #light. Using this word, you find an image that inspires you, snap a photo with your smartphone, and upload it to your social media outlet of choice using #adventword and #light. Don't forget to tag #stnicholasnewhamburg! When you do this, you help create a global Advent calendar! For a list of words, and to download our Advent Calendar of Kindness, click here. If you aren't quite sure what to do and need help, email Mtr. Leigh. She also creates a daily e-newsletter with a the day's photo and a brief meditation that comes to your email inbox. Just let her know if you'd like to subscribe.
