HELLO PARENTS AND TEACHERS!
This week we're going to take a break from our "Stories of Easter" series to celebrate the Rogation Days - the days leading up to Ascension (next Thursday) on which the church traditionally blessings the fields and the coming crop. Not only will the kids get to learn about this in Sunday school, but ALSO we will be heading to Obercreek Farm just up the hill after church to bless the fields. So they'll get to see this centuries-old tradition in action, practiced as it always has been! Invite friends - everyone is welcome!
BLESSING OF THE FIELDS - CRUCIFER NEEDED
After the 10 am service, we will be heading straight up the hill to Obercreek to bless the fields, farmers, tractors and tools. AND we need a child to carry the cross and lead the way! If you're son or daughter might be interested, please let me (Astrid) know.
AND SPEAKING OF FOOD ... EPISCOPAL CHARITIES SUNDAY IS MAY 8 AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOOD DONATIONS FROM OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL KIDS - STARTING THIS SUNDAY MAY 1 This Sunday and next, send your child to Sunday school with a food item to benefit Zion Food Pantry. Items we'd like to collect include: cereal, peanut butter, mac-n-cheese, cans of fruit/vegetables, tomato sauce, soup and pasta.

IN THE AREA THIS WEEKEND: BEACON CHILDREN'S USED CLOTHES/TOYS/EVERYTHING SALE Several of our parishioners are volunteers at the Beacon Ree-Play Sale each year, a fantastic resource for kids' things. Here's a link to more information.
LOOKING AHEAD: CONFIRMATION CLASS MEETING SUNDAY JUNE 12 Have a child of confirmation age? The bishop will be visiting sometime in 2017, and if your son or daughter will be twelve by the beginning of the year, then they can begin confirmation classes this fall! Stick around for a brief meeting after church on June 12. We will look over the fall calendar and talk briefly about topics covered in the classes.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS JULY 18-22 Mark your calendars and help us spread the word! The theme will be announced sometime after Easter. And while we're thinking about summer...
EPISCOPAL SUMMER CAMP: INTERESTED IN GETTING A GROUP TOGETHER FROM ST. NICK'S? Did you know there is an excellent Episcopal sleep away camp in nearby Ivoryton, CT? Kids 7 and older can register to go for various weeks in the summer depending on your schedule, but please let me know if you're interested in possibly attending family camp, which is usually mid-to-late August. Families from around our diocese attend together, and maybe we can get a group of St. Nick's families together if there's enough interest! Email me if you'd like more information.
