Hi Parents & Teachers - this Sunday the kids continue their lessons on Jesus' post-resurrection appearances with "The Great Commission." We'll focus especially on how we tell other people about God through our actions as much as (and more) than words. Or, as St. Francis said, "Preach the Gospel always, use words if you must."
Speaking of good actions: in a couple weeks, we will launch our summer "Read-a-thon" to raise money for the Episcopal school in Darbonne, Haiti. They'll begin learning about this project in Sunday school on June 1.
Remember that the Episcopal Church runs a very good summer camp, Incarnation Camp, in Ivoryton Connecticut. The camp takes kids ages 7 + all summer long, but the Diocesan Youth Summer Camp week is for high schoolers and runs August 17-23. The cost is $250 for the week; the diocese covers the rest (and financial aid is available to cover the $250 if needed). Email me if you want to know more about this, or about the camp in general.
Speaking of this summer, SAVE THE DATE for this year's Vacation Bible School: August 11-15, 9:30 am - noon, kids ages 4-12.
Finally, it's never too late to start planning for *next* summer (2015)! A couple of us would like to possibly put together our own Civil Rights Pilgrimage for our kids (ages TBD, probably 13+) for sometime next summer. If you are interested in taking part in a preliminary email exchange about this, please let me know right away.
This Sunday's Teachers: Sarah and Jen
This Sunday's Nursery Volunteer: You'll receive an email from Caitlin.
Remaining Schedule for the semester:
May 25 - Derek and George
June 1 - Debbie and Andrew
June 8 - Jack and Katie
Have a good weekend and see you Sunday!
-Astrid
