HI PARENTS AND TEACHERS!Check out the kids' art, - inspired by our look, last week, at some art of the creation story. Credits go (clockwise from upper left) to Oliver, Paulie, Katie, and Crosby. Love these! This week, we'll look at modern artistic depictions of the creation (with helixes, big bangs, atoms - the stuff they couldn't have imagined 1000 years ago). And then next week, we're on to stories of famous stewards of God's creation.

NEW!!! "CONNECT" EPISCOPAL YOUTH GROUP FOR TEENS - NEXT MEETING OCTOBER 25
The first CONNECT group was a success, with 15 kids from Grace Church Millbrook and St. Paul's POK in attendance. St. Nick's has been invited to be a participating parish, so let me know if there are any kids 14-18 interested. Here's a letter from the leader, the Rev. Megan Sanders Hello, Mid-Hudson Valley Episcopal Churches! CONNECT, our combined youth group for teens, had a fantastic first gathering on Sunday, Sept 27th from 2-4pm at St. Paul's in Poughkeepsie! Bishop Dietsche and his wife Margaret were with us for the blessing and eating of pizza, and then we moved on to an icebreaker to get to know one another a bit better. There were 7 youth from St. Paul's in POK and 8 youth from Grace in Millbrook. Several youth leaders were present and we all had fun talking together about what we'd like CONNECT to become. Some ideas centered around service learning and a summer mission trip. We also talked at length about fun and active trips to take locally. We have decided to meet on the last Sunday of each month, and Grace, Millbrook is hosting Sunday Oct 25th from 230-430pm (to allow time for all to arrive after serving at the Lunchbox in POK from 12-2...an opportunity that will be extended to all the youth)- we will be working that day with the Grace, Millbrook folks to prepare for their haunted house extravaganza...good times!!! Please let your youth and youth leaders know about the Oct 25th gathering, and also that we are participating in the CROP walk on Sunday, Oct 18th beginning at 12pm at (meeting point at Christ Church in POK). As always, all teens are welcome as we seek to connect with one another and look at the world through an Episcopal lens! See you soon! Please contact the Rev. Megan Sanders (850-450-0771 - [email protected]) with any questions and ideas, and to let her know you and your youth will be attending the upcoming events! Thank you, and God's peace be with you!
LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO COORDINATE A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS EVE PAGEANT
In fact, "pageant" may be too grandiose. I'd love for the kids to possibly sing an old French Christmas carol called "The Friendly Beasts," and I'm thinking we could do something super simple, with 2-3 rehearsals during Sunday school slots in December. Please contact me if you might be interested and willing to help! Here's the song on video (there are lots of other examples on youtube).
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER SCHEDULE Here's the schedule and let me (Astrid) know if you need any changes. Remember, too, all the teachers' email addresses are there, in case you ever need to find your own sub last minute (which you're welcome and encouraged to do!).
