Mid-Summer News #1 - July 12, 2015

Hi parents & teachers - hope everyone is well and having a lovely and safe summer! Your emails from me will arrive only occasionally until the fall, when I'll resume our weekly updates. Here are some things you may wish to be reminded of mid(or not quite)-summer.

NEW!!! CHILDCARE FOR ALL AGES THIS SUMMER Throughout the summer, we have nursery care AND ALSO a caregiver for any 4-12 year-olds who would like to spend the first half of the service downstairs (totally optional). Note that this is not Sunday school; the kids will have activities and supervised free time, with craft materials available. On nice days, they'll go outdoors. They will then join us at the peace so they can receive Communion.

HOW TO PITCH IN FOR THE SUNDAY SITTERS Thanks to those who offered to throw in a $20 for the sitter. Here's how we'll do this: on Sunday, just put a check in the plate with "sitter" in the memo line. OR you can put a $20 in an envelope and write "sitter" on the outside. The counters will make sure it gets accounted for properly.

REMEMBER VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS IN JUST OVER 2 WEEKS!! THE STORIES OF ELIJAH
is July 27th-31st. VBS is open to everyone ages 4-12, and runs from 9:30- noon. It culminates into a big play the Sunday following , August 2. Spread the word!

MEET OUR NEW NURSERY WORKER! Good news! We have just hired a new nursery worker, Lauren Lewis, who has lots of sitting experience and loves to work with kids. She comes highly recommended by some of our very own parishioners, and she is very excited to get to know our little ones and their parents. Lauren will start with us on July 26.  She will be here each Sunday to work with the 0-3 year-olds, and is also in charge of overseeing the parent volunteer schedule. Welcome Lauren!

SUMMER YOUTH CONFERENCE AUGUST 16-22
The Diocese of New York sponsors an annual weeklong youth conference at the Episcopal Camp of the Incarnation in Ivoryton, CT. For more information, contact Dana at stnicholasnewhamburg@gmail.com. This is a fantastic camp - for a good piece about it from the New York Times, click here.
